![]() On February 7, 1995, Bonifacio Land Corporation (BLC) started planning a major urban development-Bonifacio Global City. It is under the administration of the city government of Taguig although the local governments of Makati and Pateros also claim jurisdiction. The entire district used to be the part of the main Philippine Army camp. The district experienced commercial growth following the sale of a 440-hectare (1,100-acre) military base at Fort Bonifacio by the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA). It is located 11 km (6.8 mi) southeast of the city of Manila. Bonifacio Global City (also known as BGC, Global City, or The Fort) is a financial business district in Taguig, Metro Manila, Philippines. Beware though of coming up inside someone's condo unit. The cosmopolitan standard of living, cleanliness, tightly secured peace and order, and discipline make one feel safe in BGC. It has become a destination of sort for more and more people. Food chains and restobars start opening up in early evening making the streets of BGC alive with lights and sounds until morning the following day. ![]() Business, shopping and recreation is the order of the day until late afternoon when the promenade areas start to get filled with students, professionals (young and old alike) and party-goers. Joggers and health buffs flock to BGC at dawn until early morning before the streets get crowded with professionals and employees heading towards offices and shops nearby. More and more people are getting interested to know and see what was there in Bonifacio Global City. It has become a by-word among professionals, students, households, especially among netizens. ![]() it is now commonly associated with travel, business, education, shopping and recreation.
